Waxing when pregnant.

Waxing when pregnant.

If you have always been waxing prior to your pregnancy you can carry on. This is very individual whist you can still wax you may not feel like waxing in your first trimester due to feeling sick or very tired. I have been waxing pregnant ladies up to their 37th week plus.
Please expect some sensitivity in the bikini area. Key to a good wax to have you in a good position. Once you get to the point where you can no longer lay on your front, we can use various positions to make you feel comfortable.

If you have not been waxing prior to your pregnancy, then I would suggest to wait till you pass the first trimester and then ease your self into waxing.  For instance, instead a full leg wax and Brazilian bikini have a half leg wax and bikini line and you can progress at your own pace.

A hot shower before wax your appointment is a big NO.

I often come a cross people who say to me: "I am going on holiday next week but I have my wax a week ahead?” I explain why people do this and what they should do instead to make the gap smaller in-between the wax appointment and your holiday, however we all know you are not allowed to sunbathe for about 24-48 hours post wax, entirely depending on your sensitivity.

This is where people go wrong:
A hot and long shower on the day of your appointment (too close to your appointment) makes your skin not robust enough to be able to take the standard heat of the warm wax/strip wax as this adheres to the skin resulting in very high sensitivity and long recovery time!
The hair is usually more elastic after a hot shower, and harder to remove to the point where it can snap, or just acts like a rubber band leaving hair behind.

This is what you can do to minimise the sensitivity and recovery time!
You should have cool and short shower on the day with a long gap in-between your shower and your wax appointment.

As you can see having a cool and short shower has all the benefits making your hair removal less sensitive, less recovery time , effective hair removal and it has many other health benefits.

Why hair length matters

Many clients ask me the same question. Was I meant to trim before? What length should I have for my appointment?
For the best result you would ideally want to have 4-6 weeks of hair growth since your last wax, or if you are new to waxing, and have shaved previously 2-4 weeks since your last shave.
If you happen to pass this point, and leave your appointment to about 6-8 weeks I would prefer to do the trim on the day of your appointment.

Reasons behind this are:
You may trim too short and I won’t be able to remove all of the hairs.
You trim at the point of 6 weeks and see how far you can push your appointment. This results in strengthening your hair roots almost setting you back.

As we all know hair has 3 hair growth stages which is about 28 days, in my experience it may differ person to person. We aim to remove the hair with the hair bulb  that is still attached to its blood supply, by doing this we weaken the blood supply eventually resulting in no blood supply no hair. With all that being said, people who are just starting, or are new to waxing your hair growth/ hair length will be different . It usually takes few sessions to get all of the hair same length. Only then you can start concentrating on hair growth reduction by keeping your appointments to 4-6 weeks.
